In 2005 I came up with a new process for making expanded shells.
It requires a little more work, but the end result is well
worth it. The shells are greatly improved and will be hallmarked
with the Lassen logo. I have eliminated the tiny stress marks
that used to be visible in some of the softer silver dollar
shells and greatly enhanced the detail on the uncirculated
coin shells ..while retaining full thickness.
I have also focused on making my expanded shells less visible
when lying mouth up with a coin in the shell. I have a sturdy
shell that is near invisible when showing the obverse side
of a shelled coin. I can also make the walls a little thicker
for you guys who like to drop your props on the cement repeatedly.
Ahem...Doug.
The expanded shell sets include shell and 4 matching coins
that will fit the shell perfectly. In every type of coin,
the coins vary in diameter more so in older soft coins, but
even uncirculated coins vary. The procedure is to first find
four coins that are exactly the same size, and then to make
the shell to fit each set. This assures a proper fit on every
coin in the set.
